Recognising and supporting Earth Day 2022

Every year on 22^nd April, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970, which gave a voice to an emerging public consciousness about the state of our planet.

Today, Earth Day is widely recognised as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behaviour and create global, national and local policy changes.

The theme for 2022's Earth Day was Invest in our Planet, here at Kingfisher Shopping Centre we  made a pledge to join the world’s leaders from 20-22 April to support the movement.

Our pledge

We are pledging to increase how many of our centre lights are on sensors by an additional 5% in 2022. By achieving our goal of having 65% of the centre’s lights controlled by motion sensors, we are further committing ourselves to decreasing our electricity consumption and in turn reducing our carbon footprint.
