16th March
We have officially announced the winner of our its âFor the Love of Booksâ campaign as Holyoakes Field First School and Nursery.
The centreâs initiative, which asked the local community to cast their votes for the school they wanted to win, pledged ÂŁ500 in book vouchers from Waterstones to the winning school. With votes placed between 1st and 8th March, Holyoakes Field First School and Nursery has been named the winner with Associate Assistant Headteacher Miss Willis  and school administrator Miss Tomkins visiting the centre along with four pupils to collect their prize.
Ken Williams, General Manager at Kingfisher, said: âWe are pleased to say that the campaign has been a huge success and we were so touched to see the community coming on board to support local schools with an impressive total of over 3,000 votes received. It was an honour to present the book vouchers to Holyoakes Field First School and Nursery, and we hope this will help to aid more young learners into their reading journeys through furthering resources and creating some excitement around learning for the pupils.â
Holyoakes Field First School Headteacher, Mrs Koser said: âWe were really surprised and delighted to learn that we had won the âFor the Love of Booksâ competition. Our children just love to read so will be thrilled to hear that we have won the competition. It couldnât have come at a better time. The ÂŁ500 voucher from Waterstones will help get some much needed new books for our new school Library. We will be selecting some of our Top Readers to help choose new books for the library. A huge thankyou to everyone who voted for Holyoakes. We really do appreciate it.â
